The development office of Hoima diocese has for the last 30 years been deeply involved in working with rural communities in the area to establish and contribute to meeting their needs. Caritas Hoima also aims at improving the social-economic status of the marginalized focusing on areas of improved farming practices, nutrition, gender and women relations, credit and saving, HIV prevention, Humanitarian response, advocacy and good governance (civic education)
The diocese has been following the development within the government framework as a major development stakeholder in the region. It is key to note that some of the needs identified by the government may be similar to what Caritas has targeted especially under the Poverty Eradication Action Plan (PEAP). To this end, Hoima Caritas works closely with the District Local Government, Sub County leadership and partners to collaborate and coordinate efforts.
The same needs and priorities have been and are clearly highlighted in the strategic plan of HOCADEO.
To express God's love for man kind by continuing Christ's work of liberation and enabling each person to have life in abundance through programmes that meet the people's real felt needs.
Fully and integrally developed human persons and communities, living in an environment that is trully human.
