Strengthening HIV/AIDS care and services in regional referral hospitals.
Hoima caritas development organization is implementing this project sub granted by IDI and in partnership with Hoima regional referral hospital.
The project is in its second phase of implementation and 3600 people are targeted to be tested by the end of December 2013. Since the discovery of Oil in the Albertine region there has been so many activities of construction of roads, oil wells, drilling activities which have also come along with so many foreigners as people working in the in oil sector, construction, business entrepreneurs, commercial sex workers, truck drivers and many more. They are coming along with and also engaging in risky behaviors
The project is being implemented in Hoima municipality. The four divisions Kahoora, Bujumbura, Mparo and Busisi. Areas in close proximity with the divisions are also considered in the project.
Scope of work
HOCADEO main task on the project is to do mobilization and sensitization of people on HIV/AIDS. Caritas together with Hoima regional referral Hospital are conducting outreaches in communities for testing for HIV/AIDS in different hotspots of Hoima Municipality.
Hot spots are places we are expecting the risky behaviors and the include, Trading center, Kiryatete industrial Area, kasasiro stage, central market square, Kinubi bars, Duhaga round about and weekly markets. The target population is The Adolescents, Youth in and out of school, young adults Married couples, boda boda riders Commercial sex workers and pregnant mothers.
HOCADEO has a mandate to mobilize at least 300 people to be tested in every outreach. Testing for HIV/AIDS is done on spot and in about 15minutes the results are ready.
